Jose Garreton

Jose Garreton is a seasoned Project Management Executive, Director of Design Strategy and Planning Consultant, bringing nearly three decades of experience in architectural design, engineering, urban planning, and construction management. His career began with the construction of the historic Chestnut Park Hotel—now the DoubleTree by Hilton—in downtown Toronto. Since then, he has established himself as a trusted leader in the field, overseeing a wide range of projects that span commercial, residential, institutional, and mixed-use developments.

As the long-standing Project Manager for CSEI-Intron Engineering Corp., Jose has led hundreds of successful projects, including low-rise and high-rise buildings, townhome communities, subdivisions, and places of worship across Ontario. His leadership is marked by a comprehensive approach to project delivery—balancing creative design with rigorous planning, technical expertise, and stakeholder engagement.

Jose’s foundation in electrical and marine engineering was shaped during his early years serving in the Canadian Navy. He later pursued formal education in Construction Project Management from Columbia University, and continued to expand his knowledge through specialized training in Planning, Zoning Regulations, and Urban Development. His hands-on experience is complemented by his academic foundation, enabling him to expertly navigate the complexities of permitting, municipal approvals, variances, and rezoning applications.

In the early 1990s, Jose briefly stepped away from the construction industry to manage one of Canada’s largest law firms. However, his role in overseeing several expansion projects reignited his passion for building, leading him back to CSEI-Intron and the world of design and construction where he thrives.

Jose is especially known for:

• Creating visionary concept designs that maximize building envelopes and investment value
• Leading multidisciplinary teams through all phases of development
• Navigating municipal and provincial planning policies
• Building strong partnerships with clients, consultants, and city officials
• Advocating for projects at City Council and the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT)
• His passion lies in turning client dreams into reality—designing and building spaces that are not only functional and profitable but also enhance the communities they serve
